Write a message at a place — with a radius, a lifetime, and an optional image. Others find it when they pass by.

Good to know

Four rules set aerius apart from an ordinary chat app. Know them and the rest explains itself.

  1. Reading means going there

    Someone else's aeridrop stays sealed until you actually stand inside its radius. The map shows you that something is there — what it says, you learn on site.

  2. Only locals get to speak

    In an aerichat only people inside the radius can post. You can read from anywhere, but the room belongs to those who are there.

  3. Every post is a topic

    An aerichat is a forum, not a stream. Every post opens its own topic with the replies underneath — so a busy place stays readable.

  4. What you have read stays yours

    Save an aeridrop with the heart and it stays readable, however far you go. You can only save what you already read on site.

Privacy is not a feature, it is the foundation

aerius does not make money from your data. No ads, no tracking, no analytics — and every piece of content is built so you can delete it, or your account entirely, at any time.

Something not working as expected? Most issues are caused by a missing permission.

I don't see any aeridrops or statuses nearby.+

aerius needs your location to show content in your area. Open your phone's Settings → aerius → Location and choose "While Using the App" or "Always". Then restart the app.

The map won't load or doesn't show my location.+

Check your location permission: iOS → Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → aerius → "While Using" or "Always". Android → Settings → Apps → aerius → Permissions → Location → "Allow only while using". Also make sure GPS is turned on.

I don't get a notification when someone replies to my status.+

Notifications need to be allowed. iOS → Settings → aerius → Notifications → turn on. Android → Settings → Apps → aerius → Notifications → enable. Notifications are also blocked when Do Not Disturb is active.

I'm not notified when I enter an aeridrop's area.+

Geofencing notifications (entering an aeridrop radius) require two things: (1) Location permission must be set to "Always Allow" — not just "While Using". (2) Enable background notifications in the app under Settings. Without both, aerius cannot check your position in the background.

Background notifications stop working after a while.+

Some Android manufacturers (e.g. Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei) aggressively kill background processes. Open your phone's battery manager, find aerius, and set it to "Unrestricted" or "Don't optimize". On iOS, a device restart can help.

Can I use aerius without granting location access?+

Yes, with limitations: reading chats, managing your profile, and adjusting settings all work without location. To leave aeridrops, share your status, or see nearby content, location is required. Only the position of content you place yourself (aeridrops, statuses, aerichat) is stored — no movement profile.

My status is not visible to others.+

Your status requires an active GPS fix. Make sure you've granted location permission and that you're in an area with GPS reception (signal may be weaker indoors). Your status appears to others as soon as aerius has successfully read your location. Also check whether ghost mode (👻) is on — then you are intentionally invisible.

How much does aerius cost?+

Nothing. aerius is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases. The app does not make money from your data.

Someone shared an aeridrop link with me — why can't I read the content?+

That's intentional and the core of aerius: content only becomes readable at the place itself. The shared link shows you how far away the aeridrop is and offers navigation — you can read it as soon as you enter its radius.

What is ghost mode on a status?+

With ghost mode (👻) your status stays active — existing chats and replies keep working — but you no longer appear in other users' feed or map. Handy when you want to stay reachable but not visible.

How do I delete my account and data?+

Directly in the app: Account → "Data & account" → "Delete account". This removes your profile and all your content (aeridrops, statuses, chats, images). Beforehand, you can download a copy of your data via "Export my data".
